Eastside Crime Watch: Murder in Boyle Heights, assaults in Atwater and car crime everywhere else

A murder and rape in Boyle Heights were the most violent crimes reported during the week, which also included a pair of violent robberies in Silver Lake and numerous stolen vehicles across Echo Park, Highland Park and Silver Lake during June 29- July 5.

Echo Park & Silver Lake (90026)
A pair of violent robberies were reported in Silver Lake (on Larrisa and on Sunset Boulevard near Maltman). Otherwise, it was car and truck owners who suffered the most, with about 10 thefts from vehicles in Silver Lake and Echo Park. Hot spots included Echo Park Lake and Sunset Boulevard near Dodger Stadium.

Lincoln Heights & Montecito Heights (90031)

If you live in Lincoln Heights and your vehicle was not stolen last week, consider yourself lucky. Seven vehicles were stolen.

El Sereno & Monterey Hills (90032)
A violent robbery was reported Barnett Way in El Sereno.

Boyle Heights (90033)
A murder and a rape were reported during the 4th of July holiday (they don't show up on EveryBlock but do on the LAPD Crime Maps.) There was also a trio of violent robberies and aggravated assaults.

Atwater Village & Silver Lake (90039)
Five aggravated assaults, a trio on Garden Street and a pair on Larga Avenue, were reported in Atwater. Meanwhile, three vehicles were stolen in northeast Silver Lake.

Eagle Rock (90041)

There were three thefts, from vehicles and persons, reported in the area northwest of York and Eagle Rock Boulevard

Highland Park (90042)
Five vehicles were stolen a few blocks south and north of York Blvd.

Cypress Park, Glassell Park & Mt. Washington (90065)
Three vehicles were stolen in Cypress Park while an aggravated assault and a burglary were reported in Glassell Park west of the 2 Freeway.
