Eastside Crime Watch: A rape in Glassell Park and a surge in vehicle crime across Echo Park and Silver Lake

A rape in Glassell Park and a surge in vehicle crime and aggravated assaults in Echo Park and Silver Lake were among the most serious crimes reported between Monday, July 27 and Sunday, August 2:

Echo Park & Silver Lake (90026)
The last week of July was a bad one for car and truck owners, with 14 thefts from vehicles reported across Echo Park and Silver Lake in addition to six reports of Grand Theft Auto. Also, there were two violent robberies in Echo Park as well as four burglaries and six aggravated assaults in both neighborhoods.

Lincoln Heights & Montecito Heights (90031)
Four out of the nine crimes reported were stolen vehicles in Lincoln Heights.

El Sereno & Monterey Hills (90032)
An aggravated assault and a burglary in El Sereno were among the mostly auto related crimes reported last week.

Boyle Heights (90033)
Grand theft auto was the crime of the week, with 8 stolen vehicles reported, two along Mission Road.

Atwater Village & Silver Lake (90039)
A violent robbery on Avalon Street in the 90039 section of Echo Park and a burglary in Atwater were among the most serious of seven crimes reported.

Eagle Rock (90041)
A quiet week, with only four crimes, including an aggravated assault on the 4300 block of Eagle Rock Boulevard.

Highland Park (90042)
A pair of burglaries and personal thefts were among the mostly auto related crimes reported. An aggravated assaults and a stolen vehicle were reported early in the week on 6100 block of Piedmont Avenue.

Cypress Park, Glassell Park & Mt. Washington (90065)
A rape in the 3400 block of Fletcher Drive in Glassell Park was the most serious of six crimes reported.
