House fire in Silver Lake

A fire broke out at about 11 am at a two-story home at 1618 Benton Way near Berkeley Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. It took fire fighters a little over an hour to knock down the "stubborn fire in floors/walls hampered by excess storage," according to the fire department. The fire, which was triggered by an electrical problem, caused an estimated $180,000 in damage.

No injuries were reported. But, as one resident noted, the fire-related street closures had "disoriented Priuses driving in circles."
