A police helicopter hovering over Echo Park tonight is part of a search for a suspect who dropped a gun following an investigation in the 1900 block of Echo Park Avenue, according to an officer at the scene. No shots were fired, the officer said.

  1. Was the suspect driving? I caught a tagger doing his crap art work on one of my laguna ave neighbors garage. He took off in a older model Honda with another Male suspect Tag was (LCM) This happened aprox. 10:30pm

  2. Thanks for the update - appreciate your keeping us informed (after we finally were allowed to get back to our house...).

Talked to the police and a neighbor and he indicated the suspects were seen by the police in front of the art studios here - they tried to dump a gun, one suspect got away, and the chase ensued...

  3. LCM stands for Little Crazy Mentals, a Korean gang that's more or less defunct now. Guess they lost their way and ended up in Echo Park.

  4. Thanks for this post, Jesus. We woke up to the helicopter's light shining in our window and wondered what the hell was going on.

  5. my favorite part was "Surrender!! you have 1 minute till we release the dogs!!!"

I could see flashlights on the hillside, and the chopper spotting the east side of the canyon.

  6. If LCM is a Korean gang, someone better tell those 2 latino morons that were spray painting this.

  7. Thanks for the post, helps a lot to know what is going on when there is extended activity in the neighborhood - and yeah, the bullhorn part was unnerving that late at night!

  8. Sorry but LCM stands for Los Crazy Mexicans. If there is any doubt you can go by the corner of Kensington and Bellevue where those dummies put up a 20 ft tag last night.

  10. To "hmmm" . . . Thanks for clarifying LCM. You're right, LCM also stands for Los Crazy Mexicans and also is a tag for an Arizona gang. I like "Little Crazy Mentals" the best. Have a hunch that the younger kids simply pick out the tags they like, attaching their own denotations. At any rate, it is helpful to know what's behind the tags. Keeps one informed on what's happening among the gangs.
